Access to Records

Under the New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) many Agency records are available for inspection. Some records are available on this website. If you cannot locate the information you seek, please send an email, letter, or completed Application for Access to Agency Records (PDF 127kb) to:

Records Access Officer
New York State Adirondack Park Agency
P.O. Box 99
Ray Brook, NY 12977

or

apafoil@gw.dec.state.ny.us

Please be as specific as possible when requesting records. Include any file numbers, landowner’s or applicant’s names and dates you have available. Some records may be quite large; if you only want portions of a record please specify which portions you seek to obtain.

Please indicate in your request if you would like to review the file, receive digital copies via email or receive paper copies. A large record may exceed the Agency’s email capacity, but may be able to be placed on a compact disc, at a cost of $5.00 per disc. Paper copies may cost up to $0.25 per page. Large format black and white prints may cost up to $1.50 per linear foot.

Our regular business hours are 8:30A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made to review records during those times. Appointments may be subject to the availability of meeting space.

Within five business days of receipt of a written request for a record reasonably described, the Agency will make the record available, deny the request in writing or furnish a written acknowledgement of the receipt of such request and a date by which a determination will be made.

Some records are exempt from release pursuant to Public Officers Law §87(2). Please visit the following links for more information on the Freedom of Information Law.
