(3) Presentation and Discussion: Issues Facing the Dairy Industry in Adirondack Counties (S. Erman)
A discussion of the economics of the dairy industry in northern New York. This discussion will focus on topics such as production, marketing and other issues that have threatened the viability of farming operations as well as future opportunities in the industry. This discussion is in recognition of the important role of viable agricultural operations in the Adirondack economy as well as in the protection of scenic open space.
The Committee will hear presentations by Brian Lee, St. Lawrence County Office of Economic Development, and Judy Tomlinson, Empire State Development (Watertown). Local Farm Bureau officials will be invited to join the discussion.
