Table 9. Large wetland complexes of the St. Lawrence Watershed. Estimated sizes of wetlands were measured in a GIS by identifying the set of polygons that comprise each large wetland complex. The estimated sizes of the wetlands marked with asterisks, however, are from the files of D. Spada, Adirondack Park Agency. Most of these estimations are the result of calculations from paper maps and remain as generalized estimations, rather than more exact calculations, because either the wetland mapping is incomplete in GIS form (because the wetland straddles a watershed boundary), or, the results of the GIS procedure disagree with the previous paper results and QA/QC is incomplete at this time.
