Board Approves Two ProcellaCOR EC Applications and Hosts Community Spotlight with Elizabethtown
RAY BROOK, NY – At the May Agency meeting, the Adirondack Park Agency Board authorized the application of the aquatic herbicide ProcellaCOR EC in Eagle Lake and Mountain View Lake, approved the construction of single-family dwelling and related development, hosted a Community Spotlight with the Town of Elizabethtown, and heard an informational presentation about the Agency’s updated website.
First, the board heard a Community Spotlight presentation about the Town of Elizabethtown from Supervisor Cathy Reusser. Located within one of the two counties wholly within the Adirondack Park, Essex County, Elizabethtown serves as the county seat. It is also known as the eastern gateway to the High Peaks region, a popular destination for outdoor recreation. In her presentation, Supervisor Reusser highlighted Elizabethtown’s efforts to revitalize their community while protecting the surrounding environment, which draws visitors and residents alike.
Following this, Agency staff provide an overview of the Agency's updated website, which launched in April. Staff explained why changes were made to the website and how they have supported the Agency's public information efforts thus far. This included showcasing how the website furthers goals outlined in the Agency’s 2021 Transparency Initiative, as well as New York State goals for website branding and accessibility.
Then, the board approved three permit applications. First, the board approved a permit authorizing Eagle Lake Property Owners, Inc. to engage in a one-time application of the aquatic herbicide ProcellaCOR EC in Eagle Lake to control Eurasian watermilfoil. Permit conditions included adherence to Clean, Drain, Dry standards for equipment and a post-treatment concentration monitoring report and aquatic plant survey.
Second, the board approved a permit authorizing Mountain View Association to engage in a one-time application of the aquatic herbicide ProcellaCOR EC in Mountain View Lake to control Eurasian watermilfoil. Permit conditions included adherence to Clean, Drain, Dry standards for equipment and a post-treatment concentration monitoring report and aquatic plant survey.
And third, the board approved a permit authorizing Elk Lake Land Inc. for the construction of single-family dwelling and related development in the Town of North Hudson.
