Weekly APA Public Comment Periods Announcement


RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency is accepting public comment on projects currently under review. The public is encouraged to go online to learn more about each public comment opportunity and to submit comments electronically.

At present, the following projects are available for comment at https://apa.ny.gov/contact/public-comment.cfm:

• A proposed weapons range for testing the internal ballistics of cannon barrels. A portable 155mm howitzer barrel assembly is proposed to be placed on a 100-foot by 100-foot crushed gravel pad and test-fired on a 197-acre property. Each test would fire a steel projectile into a target area. No explosive warheads are proposed to be used. The howitzer assembly is proposed to be fired up to 30 times per year on weekdays, between the hours of 10am and 4pm in the Town of Lewis, Essex County (P2021-0276).

• A five-lot subdivision of a vacant 54.62-acre parcel to create a 9.07-acre lot, a 13.08-acre lot; a 10.67-acre lot; a 9.46-acre lot, and a 12.34-acre lot with each lot improved by one new single family dwelling, a garage, on-site water supply and on-site wastewater treatment system in the Town of Webb, Herkimer County (P2025-0039).

• Construction of a 6,900-square-foot event barn, which will operate seasonally from May 1st- October 31st, be available for use seven days a week, and operate between the hours of 1pm and 10pm in the Town of Bolton, Warren County (P2025-0217).

• Construction of a single family dwelling and installation of an on-site wastewater treatment system in the Town of Corinth, Saratoga County (P2025-0153).

• Replacement and expansion of an existing commercial use structure in the Town of Ticonderoga, Essex County (P2025-0187).

• A 19,000-square-foot expansion of an existing laboratory facility to provide for expanded testing facilities and additional staffing in the Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County (P2025-0222).

• Expansion of a currently authorized 11.6±-acre Life-of-Mine in two areas for purposes of future sand and gravel extraction as follows: A 4.1-acre expansion of Pit #1 and a 5-acre expansion of Pit #2. The new total Life-of-Mine area will be 20.7± acres. No change to the method or manner of mining is proposed and mining in the expansion areas will utilize the same or similar equipment that is currently in use in the Town of Piercefield, St. Lawrence County (P2025-0197).

• A variance involving the replacement of a pre-existing single family dwelling with a single family dwelling that is 8.96 feet wider within the 75 foot shoreline setback in the Town of Mayfield, Fulton County (2025-0110).

• A five-lot subdivision of 99± acres to create residential building lots ranging in size from 17.04 to 25.03 acres with one single family dwelling, on-site wastewater treatment system, potable water well, and driveway to be constructed on each lot in the Town of Chester, Warren County (2025-0129).

• Consideration of a landowner’s request to amend the official Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map by reclassifying approximately 11.8 acres of Rural Use land to Moderate Intensity Use and 56.5 acres of Rural Use land to Low Intensity Use in the Town of Lake Luzerne, Warren County (MA2025-01).
