November 2024 APA Board Meeting Preliminary Agenda

RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, November 14th, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY. The public is welcome to attend in person or remotely. 

Public comment will be available to members of the public who attend the Agency meeting in person as well as those who participate remotely. If you would like the opportunity to make a public comment remotely, please email your name and the phone number used to call into the Board Meeting to AgencyMeeting.PublicComment@apa.ny.gov. Those who sign up for public comment will be limited to three minutes each. Public comment will not be accepted on any agenda items that are before the Board.

On Thursday at 10:30 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Barbara Rice’s monthly report, public comment, and other procedural actions.  

At 11:00 a.m., the Public Awareness and Communications Committee will convene for an informational presentation from Agency staff on recent efforts to achieve social media goals outlined in the Agency’s 2021 Transparency Initiative. This includes an overview of approaches for reaching current and future audiences through audience-specific outreach strategies.

At 1:00 p.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider a proposal for changes to an existing mine last authorized by Agency Permit 2021-0245. The project site (Barton Mine) is located in the towns of Johnsburg, Warren County and Indian Lake, Hamilton County.

The committee will then consider a proposal to revoke five general permits pursuant to §572.23 of Adirondack Park Agency regulations, specifically:

- GP2005G-2R for Minor Projects Not In Or Impacting Wetlands;

- GP2005G-5R for Subdivisions to Convey Two or More Lots Without Principal Building Rights;

- GP2010G-3 for Change in Use of an Existing Commercial, Public/Semi-Public, or Industrial Building;

- GP2011G-1 for Subdivisions Involving Wetlands; and

- GP2011G-2 for New York State Department of Transportation Herbicide Vegetation Management for Guide Rail and Sign Delineator Posts Adjacent to Wetlands in the Adirondack Park”.

At 4:00 p.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions.
