APA Announces Registration Open for 2026 Adirondack Planning Forum

RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) is now accepting registrations for the 2026 Adirondack Planning Forum scheduled to take place from May 6-7 at the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake. The Adirondack Planning Forum is an annual conference hosted by the APA to provide credited training for planning and zoning board members. In addition to this training session, informational presentations about regional planning issues and funding opportunities are offered concurrently.

"Each year, the Adirondack Planning Forum brings together local government officials, Adirondack Park citizens, consultants, partner agency representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss the Park's biggest opportunities and challenges. I encourage all to attend," said APA Executive Director Barbara Rice.

Training courses scheduled include an overview of zoning board of appeals’ responsibilities, revising local zoning codes, and regulating short-term rentals. Expert panelists this year will also discuss two New York State grant funded projects: the Warren County Thriving Hamlets Initiative and New York Forward – Chesterfield and Ausable Spotlight. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about Governor Hochul’s new Move-In NY program. Launched in September of 2025, this innovative affordable homeownership program was piloted in the Adirondack Park municipality of Newcomb. The final panel of the day will focus on how communities are leveraging partnerships to develop and maintain their local mountain bike trail systems to enhance both tourism and recreational offerings for residents.

The forum also provides American Planning Association Certification Maintenance credits to certified planners who attend sessions.
