RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency is accepting public comment on projects currently under review. The public is encouraged to go online to learn more about each public comment opportunity and to submit comments electronically.
At present, the following projects are available for comment at https://apa.ny.gov/Hearings/index.cfm:
• Re-configuration of a previously authorized marina on Lake Champlain with the number of boat dock slips increasing from 234 to 302, the number of boat moorings decreasing from 112 to 68, and the total footprint of breakwater structures reducing from 27,150 square feet to 6,750 square feet in the Town of Peru, Clinton County (P2024-0152).
• Continued operation of an existing sand and gravel extraction. An area of 5.1± acres will be affected within the five-year permit term, within a 11.3±-acre life of mine. The mine is accessed from South River Road. Activities consist of excavation, screening, crushing and stockpiling. On-site activity occurs intermittently Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm. Material is removed from the stockpile by the Town of Waverly as needed for road maintenance and other Town projects, with a maximum of 15 truck trips per day in the Town of Waverly, Franklin County (P2024-0268).
• Construction of a 3.9 MW solar generation facility on approximately 22 acres of an existing agricultural field to be surrounded by a 7-foot-tall woven wire fence in the Town of Essex, Essex County (P2023-0123).
• Construction of a publicly accessible replica Adirondack fire tower with an overall height of 55 feet at Ward Plumadore Park to serve as a recreational and educational feature in the Village of Saranac Lake and Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County (P2024-0325).
