RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) is considering a landowner request to amend the official Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map in the Town of Lake Luzerne. The proposed amendments would involve reclassifying approximately 73.9 acres of Rural Use land to Moderate Intensity Use and 123 acres of Rural Use land to Low Intensity Use.
Agency staff presented the proposed amendments to the APA Board at its October 9, 2025 meeting. Staff explained the standards for evaluating the proposal, outlined the process for soliciting public input prior to a decision, and provided a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS). The DSEIS and proposed amendments are available for review on the APA’s website at https://apa.ny.gov/planning/topic/map-amendment-2025-01.html.
To facilitate public input, a public comment period has started. As a part of this comment period, a public hearing will be held on November 6, 2025 from 4pm – 6pm at the Lake Luzerne Town Hall (539 Lake Avenue, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846). Oral and written comments will be accepted at the hearing.
The Agency is also accepting written comment on the proposed amendments. Written comment must be received at the Agency by close of business on November 17, 2025.

Agency staff will review public input received during the comment period and may incorporate comments into the proposed Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS). The FSEIS will be brought to the Agency Board after the close of the public comment period. The Agency Board will then decide whether to approve, modify, or deny the proposed amendments.
