  • These statistics were generated from the Adirondack Park Agency Geographic Information System Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan and State Land Map database on March 20, 2018.
  • Changes in acreage between 2017 and 2018 are attributed to approval of the State Land Classification Package, map amendments in the Town of Essex, Essex County, and a minor adjustment to the Blueline (park boundary) in the Town of Parishville, St. Lawrence County.
  • Although acreage figures are shown to one acre accuracy, the geographic information used for area calcuations is approximate. These statistics are base on land classification regional boundary GIS data derived from 2017 NYS GPO roads, US NHD hydrography, and NYS GPO orthoimages. Parcel boundaries are derived from 2015 County Real Property Tax Map data. Due to map scale of source information, these data are intended for regional planning purposes.
  • County acreage totals represent the portion of the county within the Adirondack Park. Only Essex and Hamilton counties are wholly within the Adirondack Park.
  • As of 2009, state lands Pending Classification that surround Great Sacandaga Lake are under the jurisdiction of the Hudson River - Black River Regulating District.
  • More information about land use area classifications can be found in the Adirondack Park Agency Act (pdf 294kb) and the State Land Master Plan (pdf 440kb). In addition, see descriptions of private and state land use classifications at www.apa.ny.gov.
