Map Amendment

What Is It?

Private lands within the Adirondack Park are classified into six different land use areas by the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan. These land use areas (Hamlet, Moderate Intensity Use, Low Intensity Use, Rural Use, Resource Management and Industrial Use) are shown on the Official Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map.

Local governments, individual landowners, or both concurrently may request amendments to the classification of specific parcels persuant to Section 805 of the Adirondack Park Agency Act and Part 583 of Agency regulations, which set forth criteria and procedures for amendment of the Official Map.

Note: Map amendment applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Agency to schedule a pre-application meeting with staff prior to submission of the Map Amendment Application.

Form Submission

The Agency accepts submissions via email and mail. Emails can be sent to APASubmissions@apa.ny.gov or via the form below. Before submitting, please ensure that:

  • All submissions are in PDF format and legible;
  • Electronic copies of plans are fully scalable;
  • Applications contain scans of signatures affixed by hand or electronic signatures consistent with the Electronic Signatures and Records Act.
