Adirondack Park Agency

Hamlet Development Program

The Agency's Hamlet Development Program (HDP) is a community-driven process, led by a local stakeholder workgroup with assistance from the Adirondack Park Agency, that develops and implements a plan for economic improvement of the community’s commercial center. All 101 of the Park's municipalities are eligible to participate in the initiative. HDP provides the client community with:

An economic plan for the revitalization of the community's commercial center

Local capacity for plan and project implementation

Continued support for project development from the Agency's Economic Services and Planning Divisions

In 2014, staff from the Agency’s Economic Services and Planning Divisions worked with the Village of Northville and Town of Northampton to pilot the Hamlet Development Program and develop an economic plan for the communities' commercial centers. A copy of the plan can be found here. Agency staff is continuing to work with the communities on project implementation.

For questions regarding the Hamlet Development Program or to begin the HDP process contact Dan Kelleher, Special Assistant for Economic Affairs at 518-891-4050.
